Why aren’t the Padres no. 1 in MLB Power Rankings?

San Diego Padres, 2-0, 1st place in the NL West… holding the best record in Major League Baseball, with a run differential of +10 against National League powerhouse, the St. Louis Cardinals. Sounds like a no. 1 Power Rankings headline to me, right? Absolute crush job that the Padres handed out yesterday to the Cardinals, an 11-3 victory.

No need for extra innings in this one. Clayton Richard was dealing from the mound and tacked on a couple RBI of his own for good measure. Everybody seemed to be hot yesterday, especially Headley, Ludwick, Maybin and Hundley. Absolutely love that the NORF got some time in the game too… he totally deserved his picture on top of this blog.

Welp, it sets the stage perfectly for today’s party at RJ’s Grill. We’ll be there with freakin’ bells on. Can. Not. Wait. Come hang out with us. Hugs all around. If the Padres were to pull off this sweep of the Cardinals by winning today, and yes, I understand I’m running the risk of a jinx right now…but ESPN already said it, so we’ll blame them… If they complete the sweep… that’s the first season opening sweep since 1984… and we all know what happened in 1984.

Tony Gwynn bodyslam! Oh yeah, they won the pennant, too. Come hang out today…see you in a couple hours, we’ll reminisce.
