Allen Iverson Lost His Swagger Riding Shotgun

Welcome to Atlanta where the playas play…and we ride on them thangs like every day… Allen, Allen, Allen… look what Turkey did to you! You head over there to play in the Turkish Pro League and immediately your swagger is gone. I mean, I know you’re playing it off like you still have it.. but you don’t. Poor Allen Iverson got pulled over for a routine traffic violation last week, while riding shotgun in his own whip, a Lamborghini in Atlanta, Georgia. When the cops decided to tow his car for bad tags, he flipped out and launched an expletive-ridden tirade, CNN is reporting. Here are a few of the gems he dropped.
“Police don’t have anything else (expletive) to do except (expletive) with me.” (this is a fun mad lib)
“Take the vehicle, I have 10 more” (seriously, who refers to their Lamborghini as a ‘vehicle’? 10 more, huh, Allen? Uh-huh)
“I make more money than you will in 10 years” (this is a shocker to me, because this technique usually works when you’re trying to get out of a ticket, yet – they insisted on towing.)
“Do you know who I am?” (swagger killer. that’s when I knew, Allen…that you’d lost it. 10 years ago, you’d have never played this card. never.)

So, back in February, like countless pseudo-stars before him, Legedu Naanee of the San Diego Chargers played the “Do you know who I am?” card at a murder scene in Indy… here were my thoughts on it.

Playing the “Do you know who I am?” card: If I’m an NFL player, I’m playing this card like I just got UNO. Bam, slap, throw it down “UNO!! How you like me now!?” arms up in the air all cocky. All the time I’d play that card. However, here are a few scenarios, Legedu, you might wanna reconsider the “Do you know who I am?” card.

  • At a MURDER scene (as noted above)
  • In Indianapolis, when you play in San Diego. That’s 2,000 miles.
  • When you are arguably only the 3rd best WR on your own team
  • When you’re Punk in Drublic.

Let me sum up, if you have to play the “Do you know who I am?” card, you shouldn’t be playing the “Do you know who I am?” card. That make sense? They don’t know who you are! And if they don’t know who you are, they don’t care who you are, and they are not going to back off when they find out. Think about the elite players in the NFL, or even just the well known players… can you imagine Drew Brees, Peyton Manning, Mike Vick, Chad OchoJohnsonCinco, T.O., etc. playing this card? No, because people know who they are… and if they don’t… they know there’s no point in playing it.

Same goes for you, Allen. So dumb to play that card. So dumb. Also, you better have been drunk if you’re letting your buddy drive your Lamborghini… actually, I take that back, I guess it’s no big deal when you’ve got 10 of them.
