From Coronado to Houston: I’m Back, Bitches

Good grief. Apologies, lobsters, for my lack of posts the past few days. I spent the weekend with my wife in Coronado. We stayed at the Hotel Del Coronado, which I’ll get into in a sec here. After that, I had to go to Houston, if you follow us on twitter (@LobShots) you know how well that went. What a freaking juxtaposition of feelings, spend a staycation here in San Diego with the wifey at Coronado, to traveling to Houston for work. I love Coronado. I hate Houston. That picture up top, that was not staged or anything… I was literally sitting in a lounge chair, drinking a beer poolside, when I looked up and thought… “huh, that’s cool” and snapped the photo with my Droid, (all the pics from this posts are just Droid shots) never moving my lazy ass off the lounge chair.

Our room at the Del was huge, considering I’d stayed there once before and it was the size of a closet. This time, it was much bigger, and awesome. It’s just a great hotel. It’s insanely old with an amazing past. They say it’s haunted with tons of personal accounts of the ghost of Kate Morgan. With the amount of creaks and thumps you hear all day and night long there, of course idiots think it’s haunted. A fun story regardless. The history of the hotel is unparalleled and the atmosphere is amazing, but you pay for it. A large vanilla latte (insert girly drink joke here) was $6.73. If you want to get an on-demand movie in your room. You’ll pay up for it.

Yes, that says $16.99. How rad though is Coronado as a whole, though? Amazing little community.

Lots of little golf cart type car thingys that cruise around the island, which I think is so cool. Those two, the mini-Hummer, and the military jeep…were by far the coolest that I saw. Lots of military around… as noted by this sign from the Barber. How ’bout this for some military trims? 300 different prices and names for a buzz.

You want your bangs cut? 5 bucks! Love it.

Then, the paradise weekend ended and I had to fly to Houston for work. Just all kinds of miserable there. From paradise to the pit of hell. I took zero pictures Houston as a city, because well, it’s Houston. I did see a small sports memorabilia shop while I was there and saw these.

Uh, bobblehead maker guys… how ’bout spending more time making this look like Drew Brees, and less time on the gigantic birthmark on his face… which has, btw, shrunk considerably since his Chargers days.

How ’bout these guys? The big question here is, “Are these to scale?” They might be. Also, smart of the bobblehead people to capture the only exciting moment of Matt Leinart’s NFL career.

Anyway, I got back into San Diego at 11pm last night, and had to wake up at 4am…I’ll get a few posts out today, and in the meantime, you can consider me tired… but back in the freaking saddle.
