The ALCS, the Rangers, the Tigers, the Padres, and Garvey’s Forearms…

So, the Rangers are up 3-2 in the ALCS on the Tigers because Verlander is pitching out of his mind right now. Well, if Padres fans needed a reminder, which you shouldn’t, of why I’m cheering for the Rangers to win the AL, here ya have it. A vintage 1984 tshirt from the Padres vs. Tigers World Series. You want it? It’s on sale right now on eBay, buy it here while it lasts…a steal for only $79.99. No, that’s not a typo. That’s not supposed to say $7.99 or $9.99, that’s $79.99. What a joke. (The real reason I’m cheering for Texas to win this thing is because I absolutely love Josh Hamilton… and they have our boy Mike Adams.)

Couple things about this t-shirt though… who knew that Steve Garvey carried the Popeye perception all across the country? I never really understood that nickname. I don’t really think his forearms were all that big… just super, super hairy. The Goose Gossage depiction on the tshirt is, of course, less than clever…a goose. I know the 1984 loss was a long time ago, but it still hurts for a lot of fans because we were so close to that first World Series title. In closing… suck it, Tigers. I hope you lose and I hope Jose Valverde takes the loss.
