Tell me if you’ve heard this one before… Padres sign a veteran to a one or two year deal that used to be an All-Star but absolutely sucked last year. Nah, me neither.

Josh Johnson was a freaking ACE with the Marlins. He had 3 seasons with double digit wins and in 2010, he posted a 2.30 ERA. Last year with the Blue Jays, he was 2-8 with a 6.20 ERA. Ouch.

Anyway, you can get all the details on the trade from Corey Brock here. Seems like Padres fans haven’t been this excited in an off-season since the Padres brought in the Professor in 2007.

Here’s to hoping we get the Marlins version of Josh Johnson, not the Blue Jays version.
