The TV Commercial That Has a Parking Spot in my Brain

I don’t even drink Heineken. However, the hideousness of those talking basketball commercials that have been showing during the NBA Finals got me to thinking about commercials I liked that have been running a lot. We’ve always been passionate about good commercials and Heineken’s “The Entrance” wins here. Here’s the very bizarre commercial that I’m referring to, and unless you don’t own a TV, you’ve seen it.

So, this guy’s a trip, right? It almost feels like Heineken was going for a young version of Dos Equis Most Interesting Man in the World, who is also awesome. You watch this guy walk into the room and immediately you’re confused. You’re not sure if you want to be him, or if you want to junk punch him. Be honest, deep down, you wish you were him, but amongst your friends, you don’t. It’s an internal struggle that only you can come to grips with. Keep denying it if you want…but I’m prepared to admit I have a bit of a crush on him. As cool as this dude is portrayed, the song steals the show. It’s the catchiest damn song I’ve heard in quite some time. I love it. I see that commercial and I’m singing that song for hours. Who is that girl that I now have a crush on? Funny you should ask. Meet the beautiful Danish singer Mette Lindberg.

Hello, Mette. She’s the lead singer of a band called “The Asteroids Galaxy Tour” and the song she’s singing is called “The Golden Age”. Again, I love it. Love her voice. Her energy. I love her boppin’ around singing away without a care in the world. Here’s the YouTube link to their video. It’s got 2.7 million hits, so clearly I’m not dropping a new hit on the world. The video is super weird, something out of a dream sequence with Ron Burgundy and Veronica Corningstone, but it works. The decision to do the commercial was a no-brainer for Miss Mette… “We saw Jay-Z and Brad Pitt do Heineken commercials so we figured that we would be in good company.” True statement. Welp, here’s to more awesome commercials and more Mette Lindberg.
