This Little Ohio State Piggy went “Waaah Waaah Waaah…all the way home”

Jim Tressel has “resigned” as head coach of the Ohio State Buckeyes football team. A collective smile has emerged on the faces of sports fans across the country. That’s how it seems to go with Ohio State. You love ’em or hate ’em. I fall in the latter group. Here is the latest from the Sports Illustrated article that blew this story up. Good read. I’m usually not one to just quote a bunch of stuff I’ve already said. But a few of our old posts are getting a lot of traffic today, and after revisiting them myself, I realized I’ve pretty much already said what needs to be said. Jim Tressel is an arrogant man and I hope these allegations wipe that smug look off his face.  The first LobShots post was when Jim Tressel was our Kook of the Week… he’s now in the running for Kook of the Year. The second one was this billboard posting.

Here’s how I closed out my post from a month ago: “You wanna walk around like you’re better than everybody else, Ohio State? You wanna separate yourself from every other decent college football program? You wanna give your fans something to be proud of? Fire Jim Tressel. If you don’t, you’re just like everybody else.” Well, I guess they listened. They certainly were going to fire Tressel if he didn’t resign. A technicality, says me.

Mark my words… I’ve got a hunch that this is only the tip of the iceberg with these Ohio State allegations. There will be more firings. There will be more players that come forward. There were severe penalties… worse than USC. In fact, I wouldn’t even be shocked if somebody in the NCAA knew about some of this stuff and was trying to cover it up. This whole story just has ‘filthy’ written all over it. My only hope is that that stench of it will humble the OSU fanbase, and bring them back down to earth. HA! Good one, right? Not a chance. They’ll just bitch and moan about how everybody’s doing it and they’re getting picked on. Prima donnas.
